REVIEW

UK rockers DEAD REYNOLDS is a band that we have developed a firm soft spot for and as their new single proves there is no sign of it hardening any time soon. Save Meis a plaintive alt rock cry, a track with an emotive roar wrapped in intimate anguish but equally a moment of the rousing enterprise and sound the band has become so dextrous in and acclaimed for.

East Anglia hailing, DEAD REYNOLDS consists of vocalist Rossco, guitarists Dom and Luke R, bassist Ben and drummer Luke G. Since emerging in 2018, the band has increasingly and persistently earned the praise and support of critics, radio stations and fans alike. As we suggested, their sound is alt rock bred yet a tag which only teases the richness of its variety with the quintet drawing on essences of indie, pop punk and more aggressive flavours for its individuality.

Save Me is distinctive DEAD REYNOLDS, the unique familiarity of their sound again in full wind but another song giving a fresh aspect to their individuality. There is a size and anthemic air to it too which fuels every moment from calm contemplation to blazing outcry. The band has certainly never been backward in casting ear grabbing hooks and rousing incitement but within their new track everything has a more epic breath and urgency to fuel its emotive heat.

Its slow burn of a start instantly carries that anthemic drama, Rossco’s thickly alluring tones soaked in angst as melodies simmer to a sizzle and rhythms prowl before manipulatively pouncing. Once its roar erupts in voice, sound and air, Save Me is nothing less than a plea carrying roar with an emotive tempestuousness echoed in its stormy sound.

The bottom-line is that Save Me is a powerhouse of a song with DEAD REYNOLDS again revealing another face to their creative prism with our soft spot just a little lustier.

Save Me is out now.
